Description

This rare bird has a serial number of A 16223 stamped on the beige oval Gibson Inc. Kalamazoo label with the basic ES-295 model # written on the top line. It has measurements of 16” across X 3.5” deep with a 24.75 neck scale and a nut width of 1 and 11/16th". The original sunburst finish has aged very nicely and has a fair amount of weather checking to it but with no serious dings dents or scratches. There are 4 brown dots near the top volume control and some scrapes down to bare wood on the underside beneath the volume and tone knobs representing normal wear and tear. The W/B/W binding has yellowed on the sides and has a vintage look. The input jack has a 3” X 1.5” vintage dark red plastic plate around it covering 5 surface cracks where the jack was not fully yanked out of the guitar. It is not an actual repair and the cover was put on to secure it all in place. All of the other parts appear to be original including the yellowed P-90 covers, Ivy gold design on the white guard, long gold plated trapeze tail piece, caramel colored toggle switch and the gold barrel knobs. The 21 large wide frets are moderately flat and worn and may not be . This one might be able to squeak by with a level and re-crown before you take it in for a re-fret. The neck profile is a wide flat D shape that appears to have been shaved down and professionally refinished since there is high gloss lacquer on the back of the neck and it has no wear. The original single coil P-90s have all the magic you would expect and then some. The maple top, back and sides have a nice solid weight to them that really makes this guitar bouncy and vibrant sounding with superb sustain and a great feel that is inspirational. The wood on this guitar was never dried out and it resonates perfectly. Includes the original hard shell case.
