Pop quiz: What's the difference between a late 64 ES-330 and an early 65? Answer: Trick question-there isn't any difference. If you get a 65 with the big neck (1 11/16" nut), wide bevel truss cover and all nickel parts, then it's identical. (Yes, an early 64 will have single line Klusons but a late one will have double line). Anyway, that's what we have here-a big neck all nickel parts 65 ES-330. You can pay $8000 for a 64 and be happy. Or spend a little over $5K and get the same guitar and be just as happy and $3000 richer. And, if you like the cherryburst finish, then you'll have to get a 65 because the cherryburst wasn't available in 64 (except by custom order). This is original except for the bridge (aftermarket repro). This is a very good player-the neck is straight, the truss works perfectly and the frets are not worn at all (re-fret). Condition is 8.5/10. The top is very clean and only a few scratches on the back. I couldn't read the date codes without pulling the harness but the solder is original, so it has to be late 64 or early 65. Case is the Gibson badged hard case-same as 335 case-with a replaced handle.
