Description

This Gibson ES 335-12 serial number 907093 is in very good plus condition. The 12th fret inlay is missing, the original Klusons have been replaced with pearloid button mini Schallers, the trapeze tailpiece has been replaced with a stop tailpiece. Although the black light test doesn’t show it, it appears that there has been an “overspray” to address a 1” wear mark on the back of the neck behind the 6th fret.

Featuring a laminate maple body with center tone block and hollow wings, 5 piece mahogany neck (the normal 3 piece with two 3/32" "stiffeners.) rosewood fingerboard, orange label, 1 9/16” nut width and weighing in at 8.4 lbs.

Gibson's first single-neck electric 12-srting, the ES-335-12 was introduced in mid-1965 in response the twelve-string craze which followed George Harrison's use of a Rickenbacker 360/12 in the prior year's A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. The model was fairly successful over the next few years and was phased out of production in 1970. The ES 335-12 was used by Robbie Krieger on the Doors "Love Her Madly" and Richie Furay of the Buffalo Springfield, the ES-335-12 remains one of the 1960's better playing electric 12's.

This is an interesting piece of American guitar evolution, playable and collectable; these guitars don’t appear on the market very often. If you have been thinking about a 12 string electric, here we go!

Original hard shell case included.

***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
***This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
***It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
