1960 Gibson ES-335 Red, Excellent, Original Hard, Call For Price!

A long guard red 335 is the rarest production (black is rarer but was special order only) 335. There's one 58, maybe 5 or 6 59's and 21 60's (and probably 5 or 6 of those are short guard). That's really rare. But there are 420 made in 61, so if you want a red dot neck, why not just buy a 61? Well, because you don't want the little skinny 61 neck, short guard and the red is different. The early ones 58, 59 and most of the 60 red dot necks are the red that fades to watermelon, not the red that fades to brownish. Want to make it trickier? A few red 60's were built in 59 and shipped in 60 so they have the late 59 neck, 59 harness with bumblebees, black bonnet knobs and single line single ring tuners. The 59's and the 60's with the 59 FON (factory order number) go for some pretty significant bucks. But then there's this one. The factory order is R1762 which is the first rack of 1960. There was a very short period in 1960 when they stamped the FON as the serial number on the orange label. I've had five of these so far and it isn't an issue. In any case, this stunning 1960 still has all the 59 features it just doesn't have the 59 FON or serial. Condition is 9- Had Grovers but the shaft holes were doweled and filled properly. One PAF has had the cover off but I inspected it before I resoldered the cover and its all there and original. The harness has bumblebees like a 59 and a date code of 33rd week of 59. It has been re-fretted (nicely done) and the tuner tips are changed. You will not find a prettier red 59/60. Plays great and sounds huge. Pickups measure 8.20K and 7.78K. Call me on this one.
