With 58's and 59's getting incredibly scarce and expensive, it's time to consider 60 or a 61. I prefer the 60 because I like the long guard and the necks tend to be more substantial in 1960 with fewer issues. All of the changes made in 1960 are cosmetic except for the slimmer neck (late 59's had the slimmer neck too). This one came from the factory with pearl dots over the stop tail studs as is typical in 1960. Apparently some previous owner was jealous of the "Custom Made" plate his friend's had on their '61 335's and put one over the dots by drilling a hole in them and screwing it in. Well, I like the look of the dot better than the the plate but you get both. I removed the screws and its now held there with velcro. My advice? take it all off and add a stop tail. It's very clean under the Bigsby with no fade. It is all original except as follows. This came to me with an unstickered neck PAF and I made the judgement call to swap it out for an unopened stickered PAF from the same era (it was out of another mid 60). Given the choice between all original and having to explain a missing sticker or not original but correct, I went with the sticker. I'd rather have two stickered PAFs than one that will always be questioned. There are repro tuners on the guitar. The originals work fine but the tips need replacing-they are in the case. And a bonus...the original harness is is date coded 33rd week of 59 with bumblebees. Most 60's have black beauties. A 59 harness alone is worth some serious money. I'm told this guitar was previously owned by Joe Bonamassa according to the previous owner. Take that for what it's worth to you. It does not figure into the price. It's an excellent player with warm fat tone. This is a collector grade guitar. Condition is 9/10.
