Description

If you buy into the concept that old wood is better than new wood and that build quality was better back in the day than it is today, then this might check a few boxes. It is a legit 64 (note the uncut bridge pickup rout) but it has a few issues which are reflected in the price. I would prefer to sell it as is but I can build it out with repro parts for the cost of the parts. It is refinished. The finish work is top notch and professional. It is nitrocellulose lacquer. He didn't bother getting the transition from the neck to the body correct but that's a nitpick. There is a repaired headstock crack done before the refinish that appears totally stable and professionally executed. Wide nut, relatively slim at the first fret with typical 64 shoulders that make it feel larger than it measures (.81"). The 12th fret measures .97". That's big. I'm not sure where else you're going to find a real 64 at this price and if you've got a load of parts lying around, you could make yourself a great player. Or, I can do it for you. I left the repro tuners in place and the repro truss rod cover and repro bridge posts. The repro knobs are in the case. Case is a clean 1980's Gibson.
