Description

Summary: A great-playing, beautiful-sounding 335 with plenty of vintage character in one of Gibson’s cooler finish options from the seventies.
Body: Dual cutaway semi-hollow design. Arched maple ply top, back and sides. Maple center block extends partially through body. Bound top and back. Gloss walnut nitrocellulose finish.

Neck: Three-piece mahogany set neck with small volute. Bound rosewood fretboard with small block inlays. Headstock with Gibson logo and Crown inlay. 1 9/16” nut width. 24 ¾” scale.

Pickups/Hardware: Replacement humbuckers: Gibson 57 Classic in neck; Seymour Duncan Seth Lover in bridge. Separate volume and tone controls with 3-way switch. Black Witch Hat knobs. Tune-O-Matic bridge with brass saddles. Trapeze tailpiece. Gibson Deluxe tuners.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in very good condition. There is light play wear to the top. Wear is more significant on the back, with buckle-worming and an area about the size of a half-dollar coin that is worn down to the wood. There are small holes from where the pickguard should mount (pickguard is not include). There are small dents and dings to the neck and headstock. Fretboard and inlays are in good shape. Frets are good with some wear to the first few. The binding has aged well and the guitar has a handsome, understated look.
Playability: With a slim neck and low action, this guitar plays great. No buzz or fretting out. As is particular to 335s of the early seventies, the center block extends only partially through the body from the tail end, stopping at the pickups routs. This makes it a substantially lighter, more resonant guitar while still providing better feedback resistance than a fully hollow design. The replacement pickups are well-matched and provide ample classic tones.
Mods/Repairs: Changed pickups. Bridge is likely a replacement; brass saddles are replacements. Missing pickguard.
Weight: 6 lbs, 12 oz.
Case: Original hard shell.
