I talk to 335 collectors all the time and this guitar (along with a blonde 345) is often the missing link. They only made 50 blonde 335's in 1958. I figure maybe half of them are bound and half are unbound. So, figure there were perhaps 25 built. I'm sure a few didn't survive intact (refinishes, headstock breaks, etc). So, what are the chances of finding a blonde 58 unbound? Not very good. I've had two in twenty years (including this one). This one is mostly original and a great player. It has the usual 58 neck angle but it plays great with no problems. The slightly shaved ABR-1 bridge sits right on top of the guitar which is typical of 58's. It shows some player wear but it also shows some magnificent birdseye figuring. It is a stunningly beautiful guitar. This one had Grover tuners at some point but the original Klusons were kept and are back on. The back of the neck has its finish removed (Fender guys do this-I don't know why). Neck profile is medium at .85" at the first fret and .91" at the 12th much like a late 59. Weight is 7 lbs 8 ounces. Neck PAF is a hot 8.56 and the bridge is 7.95K. There are three small holes at the end pin from a floating Bigsby-none on top. It has some small cracks around the jack which is very common on 58's due to the thin top. With clean blondes pushing $125K, this is an opportunity to get the prettiest one on the block for a good price. Original brown with pink interior case.
