Description

Beautiful 1961 Gibson ES-335 TDS dot marker semi hollow body guitar recently purchased from the second owner an older retired building contractor from Orange County CA. Rare variant dot neck with a solid maple block inside instead of the center of the block being cut out from the treble side. This was done to all thin line semi hollows to accommodate the Varitone circuity if wanted, so unfortunately most later 335 dot necks do not have a solid block inside. The benefits of having PAFs mounted in a solid maple wood block sonically are enormous (see photos). Super nice example with several small issues making it extremely affordable considering the high value of similar vintage Gibson instruments without affecting playability or sound. Small barely visible professionally repaired headstock crack, the best repair I've seen and extremely small to start with, it was difficult to illuminate and I had to expose and angle it to the light to photograph it, it's also been re fretted, a fantastic pro job (also best I've seen in recent past), factory correct size, better than Gibson installation, taller frets make for easy bending, missing original PAF pickup covers and has a newer lightweight reissue nickel bar tail piece only. Original brown Lifton case with pink interior structurally perfect does display some age and usage wear, working lathes and intact handle, a fantastic guitar for a great price! Only $11999. Thanks, VGA
