2003 Gibson ES 335 Yamano: In 2003, Gibson created this ES 335 specifically for Yamano, its Japanese distributor. It is a widely-held belief among Gibson aficionados that the Japanese market receives the cream-of-the-crop instruments. This particular guitar certainly supports that belief. This guitar sports block inlays and a very comfy neck for any hand...slightly larger than 60's slim profile neck, but not as large as a 59. The top, finished in Antique Natural, has some gorgeous figuring to the grain. Check out the top and back carves in the photos provided below. They are especially noticeable on the "Mickey Mouse ears" (upper horns). For an 18 year-old instrument, it holds up well. There is some play wear on the body, but very hard to see, the frets are in great shape and the original Kluson tuners were replaced with Grovers. You can get drop in replacements with the larger washer if you want to go back to Klusons..no need though. The combination lock clasp on the case is missing but all other latches are in fine working order and case clean as a whistle inside and out. Smoke and pet free home as well. The guitar weighs 8 lbs. 6 oz.
