Gibson introduced the Es-345 as an upgraded answer to their semi-hollow Es-335 model, adding a Varitone switch, gold hardware, stereophonic output, and parallelogram fret markers. Because of the stereo output and varitone switch these Es-345s are less in demand than their less-adorned cousin the Es-335. Those looking for a 335 should definitely look into the less expensive but extremely similar 345. With dual original Gibson Pat. Number stickered humbucking pickups and six selectable distinctive tones via the Varitone switch the Es-345 gives players a variety of sounds to choose from. It measures 1 5/8th” at the nut. The guitar weighs in at roughly 8 pounds 8 ounces. The binding has yellowed a bit and the finish has some light-to-average checking, giving this guitar a fantastic vintage vibe that can’t be denied! The beautiful finish has light-to-medium wear, especially along the sides and bottom of the body. There is a repair at the top of the headstock. There is a repair on the headstock where it has been re-glued. It is purely a cosmetic repair and has no effect on the playability and is very stable. There is also a bit of finish wear at the top of the headstock. The pickup covers and the top of the Trapeze tailpiece are less tarnished than the rest of the gold hardware; there is a chance that they may have replaced but cannot say for certain. The neck has been re-fretted at some point in its life; the frets have some wear but the guitar still plays wonderfully. There is some finish wear on the back of the neck but it is extremely comfortable. This Es-345 is a wonderful example of a late 1960s Gibson semi-hollow body guitar that is equally at home at a blues jam as it is for jazzy runs up the fret board or your latest reverb-drenched indie rock epic (as well as all points in-between!). Don’t let this one slip away! Includes original hard shell case.
