Description

Summary: With its gold hardware worn to a warm glow and some of the most intense and lovely finish-crazing we’ve ever encountered, this thin-body archtop looks the way you want an old guitar to look. Its two Patent Applied For humbucking pickups make it sound the way you want it to sound: smooth and full of woody character. Serial number is A 29571.
Body: Thin-body archtop. 17” wide, 2 ¼” deep. Laminated maple top, back, and sides with single Venetian cutaway. Triple-ply bound top and back.
Neck: 23 1/2” short-scale maple neck measures 1 5/8” across the nut. Rosewood fretboard with pearl double parallelogram inlays. Crown headstock inlay under pearl logo. Single-ply bound fretboard and headstock.
Pickups/Hardware: Two “Patent Applied For” humbuckers with the stickers still intact. Kluson tuners with tulip turnkeys. Gold-plated hardware. Rosewood floating bridge with tune-o-matic and trapeze tailpiece with model number engraved on crossbar. Multi-ply beveled pickguard.
Cosmetics: Guitar is in great structural condition and has the right kind of wear: extensive weather-checking on the body and neck give it character to match its tone. Binding shows slight shrinkage and there is minor wear to the top of the headstock. Some of the varnish has flaked off the crown headstock inlay, showing the bright pearl underneath. The gold-plating on the hardware has worn with age but is undamaged. This guitar is a real head-turner.
Playability: The neck is narrow but not cramped, facilitating fast single-note runs or complex chord voicings. Play is smooth up and down the fretboard, with no dead spots. The action is low and the guitar has been set up by our on-staff repair tech.
Mods/Repairs: Pickup selector ring is possibly a replacement and is missing its rubber surround. Original gold volume and tone knobs have been replaced with later black top hat knobs. Tuners on bass side are original single-line Klusons; tuners on treble side are slightly later replacement double-line Klusons.
Weight: 6 lbs, 4 oz.
Case: non-original hardshell case.
