The ES-355 is the top-of-the-line ES model, and this incredible example from 1964 displays why. With ornate appointments like an ebony fingerboard with block inlays, bound headstock and split diamond inlay, godl hardware, stereo "Varitone" wiring, and a Bigsby tremolo, this guitar represented the height of guitar design in the mid 60's. The original patent number sticker humbucking pickups and "varitone" switch allow for a huge array of great sounds, leading to the 355 being a guitar seen with legendary players like Chuck Berry, BB King, and Keith Richards! This example appears to have had a new neck added at the Kalamazoo factory in the late 60's, so it features the later 1 9/16" nut width and Kluson "Waffle Back" tuners, but maintains it's original 1964 serial number. A replacement aged pickguard was added as the original nitrocellulose guard had badly deteriorated. This guitar also includes the original mid-60s Gibson hardshell case
