Scarce and very, very cool, these were made from 1982 to 1984 and are very similar to the Heritage Explorers, of which only 100 were made, differing only in having a "Gibson Custom Shop Edition" decal under the finish and a conventional stamped 8-digit serial number, Schaller tuners, and gold speed knobs (currently sporting black bonnets, but the originals are included). Otherwise, lovely lightweight korina (also known as limba and afara), a very desirable and attractive timber that is easy to work, glue, and finish, and in a solidbody electric provides that fantastic "thunk" that aged and well-dried mahogany, as used in '50s Les Paul Juniors, is famous for. Gold hardware, low-output (7.22/7.23K) factory Tim Shaw PAF humbuckers, small ABR-1 bridge and tailpiece, and a three-ply black guard round out the features. 7.5 pounds overall, very clean, plays great, sounds incredible with those Shaw pickups, comes in its clean original case with factory warranty card.
