Description

Finds like this never get old for us, and this 1964 Firebird I with a transitional Platypus headstock is definitely no exception! The “Platypus” style headstock wasn’t rolled out until early 1965 with the introduction of the “Non-Reverse” Firebird, so this showed Gibson was already playing around with new ideas for the model a year after its introduction. To go with this new design, Gibson substituted the standard Banjo style tuners with 6 in-line Klusons for better tuning stability. The resonance of this piece is something to behold, and you can feel every component come together to make this an excellent guitar!
