1964 Gibson Reverse Firebird III in SUNBURST FINISH in very very good condition for its age, with its original gold-lined hardshell case, serial number 212XXX. Prior to coming to us, this vintage Reverse Firebird III was a ONE-OWNER GUITAR! Super super cool and quite rare. This 'Bird is no closet queen, she has been played - and has that sense of deep history about her, as a result. Make no mistake - the guitar was not abused - but MUSIC was MADE with this thing, and it has some scars to prove it. Here are details regarding condition: All parts and electronic are original to the guitar, with the exception of the switch tip which is more recent, and two of the latches on the case are broken, and the case is held together with two vintage shipping straps. Condition-wise, she has lots of dents, dings and scratches, and is missing one pearloid dot marker. You will notice that there is an area on the guitar's back side where the previous owner sanded the finish down to the mahogany, probably because of buckle rash that had happened in that area. The bottom side of the headstock has dents and chips that look like they may have happened as a result of contact with a drummer's cymbal. Original frets are nice and fat, and actually have a LOT of life left. There is a crack to the corner of the pickguard (see photo), and there is wonderful finish checking throughout, and lots of finish wear to the back of the neck - COMFORT! Sonically, she is exactly as you would hope: those mini hums are nice and bright and chimey, but with a great deal of warmth due to the mahogany. This is a wonderful and very very collectable 64 Firebird III, and even more wonderful to play and hold and gig and record with! Many more photos available - please call 859-261-5500 for an in hand description. Thanks.
