Description

Call it a 64 or a 65. There serial says early 65 but it isn't a transitional type. Pot codes are 40th week of 64. It doesn't matter much with birds anyway. It's got the big wide neck and all the typical 64 features. The neck depth is a slim .80" at the first fret with a lot of shoulder so, like most 64's it feels chunky. By the 12th fret, it measures .95" and is very wide. It's a handful. No breaks or repairs. There are some issues to note. The guitar has repro Klusons on it now. The originals are working properly and are in the case. It is set up as a wrap tail with a Mojotone compensated bridge for unwound G string. The stock tailpieces do not intonate properly as they were made for a wound G string. The original with studs is in the case. The rest of the trem including the "teaspoon" type arm is also in the case. And speaking of the case, it looks like its from the 70's but when you consider how crappy the 60's cases were, you should be happy about that. Original frets still good but getting kind of low. Condition is 8+. There is a 3" circle of finish missing from the back at the bass side cutaway. No idea why but it's on the back so think of it as neatly done buckle rash. So, all original parts are there as are the original frets. The only non original thing is the case. Cheapest unbroken 'bird on Gbase.
