Here’s a guitar you don’t see every day. A 1980 Gibson Firebrand “THE SG” Deluxe in Pelham Blue. Oddly named, perhaps, but it’s a clever take on the classic SG. An original Tim Shaw humbucker in the bridge position and a DiMarzio humbbucker in the neck position provide all the tone and bite you could want.
The Firebrand SG model was made from 1979 to early 1980s and came in various finishes, but the Pelham Blue is definitely our favorite. This one has the volute which was phased out on the later models. Unlike the typical SG, the input jack on the Firebrand is on the side of the body instead of the top.
Ebony fingerboard sets off the pearloid position markers nicely. Frets are in great condition and the guitar plays very well with medium low action. The guitar is in overall very good condition with normal playing wear and a few very small dings here and there.
We like this guitar a lot and we think you will too. Be the first kid on your block to play a Pelham Blue Firebrand SG. Comes complete with its original 70’s-style hardshell case in black tolex with red interior.
