Description

It's hard to believe that any mid to late 60's Gibson is as valuable or desirable as the reissue Flying V of the era. But they only made 175 of them from 67 to 69 which makes it the rarest of the production Gibsons of that era. They were made in 5 "batches" according to the excellent Flying V web site. This one is from the very first batch and has some distinctive features that are absent on the later ones. The neck join, the knobs, the serialization and the finish are different than the later ones. This guitar is all original. It had Grover tuners at some point but the originals are back on. There is almost no sign that they were ever there as the "owl eyes" that usually result from the washers on the front of the headstock are just barely visible. That is the only mod ever done. There are a few dings and scrapes but no checking and no wear. The guitar came in the wrong case and I searched long and hard for an original 60's case and finally found one (you don't want to know what people ask for them). So, the case is correct but not original. The case is actually a Gibson Faultless case from 1963 and is correct for earlier V's as well and also used for 66-69's.
