Description

Going to just shoot it straight with this guitar, mainly because it such a cool piece with several unique attributes. To begin, this '98 Korina V is one serial number away from the guitar pictured in Larry Meiner's book, "Flying V- The Illustrated History of this Modernistic Guitar." The serial number of the guitar in Mr. Meiner's book is 8 8100 and the one for this "sister" guitar is obviously 8 8101. We also have it under good authority that 1998 was the last year of the '58 reissues before Gibson switched over to producing '59 versions. That's another feature of this guitar that can only add to it's collectibility and value. The third part of this guitar's great history is that it came from that storied Asheville, NC legend, Brian "The Mug" Milstead. If ever there was a discerning guitarist, it is The Mug. He's a true player's player, so anything he straps on is the best to be found, both in looks and tone. Believe us, once he gets an axe that passes his mustard, it's hard to pry it out of his hands. Now, before you ask us "Why would The Mug sell this guitar?", please let me explain. After a great and arduous quest, The Mug located and purchased the very Flying V previously mentioned, 8 8100. He's always told us, "You can't play but one at a time.", so this guitar has been brought to us in order to find it a new home. It's a classic example of late 90's Gibson craftsmanship and has the pedigree to put it in the Smithsonian. The Mug has put the soul into this guitar- now it's time for someone to carry on the torch so please call or email with any questions. We're working as we speak on an autographed poster from The Mug. That only makes the deal sweeter!
