Offered for sale;
Used 2006 Gibson Flying V Faded serial number 034760328. This guitar is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically showing normal playing wear.
This isn’t the 2016 version Flying V Faded with 2 knobs and no pickguard. This is the satin finish version on the classic ‘70s & ‘80s Flying Vs.
First released by Gibson in 1958. The Flying V offered a radical, "futuristic" body design, much like its siblings the Explorer which was released the same year and the Moderne, which was designed in 1957 but not released until 1982.
Production guitars were made of korina, a trademarked name for limba, a wood similar to but lighter in color than mahogany. The Flying V, along with the Futura (Explorer) and, initially, the Moderne, were meant to add a more futuristic aspect to Gibson's image, but they did not sell well. After the initial launch in 1958, the line was discontinued by 1959. Some instruments were assembled from leftover parts and shipped in 1963, with nickel- rather than gold-plated hardware.
Blues-rock guitarist Lonnie Mack and blues guitarist Albert King started using the guitar almost immediately. Later, in the mid-late 1960s, such guitarists as Dave Davies and Jimi Hendrix, in search of a distinctive looking guitar with a powerful sound, also started using Flying Vs. The renewed interest created a demand for Gibson to reissue the model several times with subtle variations.
These iconic designs have stood the test of time and still are attractive and exciting. This guitar looks great in its faded satin finish and sounds great, exactly as it should!

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
