Before the rise in popularity of banjos in the 1920s (and the eventual rise of the guitar in the '30s), Gibson was perhaps best known for building fine mandolin family instruments. Nowadays, prewar Gibson mandolas and mandocellos are rare instruments, revered for their rich tone and exceptional build quality. This 1921 Gibson H-1 Mandola is in excellent condition. Thanks to an expert fret job at Gruhn Guitars, this one is also an excellent player. It's tone is rich and balanced across the register. The original pickguard is still in great shape. This is a great mandola and excellent value at this price. Please call or e-mail for an in-hand description.
