1917 Gibson H-1 Mandola Blonde, Excellent, Original Hard, $2,350.00

1917 Gibson H-1 Mandola EXC ++ Here is the best example of an A Style Gibson Mandola that has ever passed through my hands. The sound is big and rich and clear in all registers. It plays easily and in tune and is competely original right down to the still intact ribbon hinges on the original hard shell case. The blonde top is crack free with one teeny little dent where the case lid latch must have dropped down on it. Other than that the owner took amazing care with it and it must never have suffered in an attic or basement but always kept cosy with family. The back and sides are also crack free as is the rest of the instrument and the finish is all original everywhere. It's all there, from the end pin and tailpiece to the tuning pegs which work smoothly. Even the engraving on the pickguard bracket crisp and clear. Slanty pearl inlaid "The Gibson" on the headstock. Original pickguard is in fine shape and it sports a reproduction Loar adjustable bridge by Roger Siminoff. The Label is is good shape with the Serial number #34903 putting it's date around the middle of 1917.
