1931 Gibson HG-22 Flat Top Guitar VG + This is an exceedingly rare model and Gibson's first Jumbo style guitar. 14 5/8" Lower Bout; 25" Scale Length; Many of these were supposedly set up and sold to be played Hawaiian style but this one has obviously been played Spanish style all it's life. The neck has a full "C" profile and is comfortable with a bit of capo wear on the back. Classic thirties sunburst top has scratches and nicks and two hairline cracks going from the bridge down to the bottom and one other coming up from the lower bass f-hole. (This baby has in addition to it's round sound hole, four f-holes and is also factory equipped with an inner side "wall" that does not meet the back.) Dark stained maple back and sides which are crack free. Some scratches also around the bottom. Beautiful original rosewood bridge, original tuning pegs, Gibson script on the headstock. Bound top and back, elevated fingerboard. It bears FON # 83. It has a hard shell case whose top covering is gone and could use a complete recovering but provides protection. Action at the 12th fret is 9/64" bass side and 5/64" treble side. Straight neck, good frets, well balanced clear sound for picking and the chords really jump out for rhythm.
