Very good condition featuring square shouldered dreadnought body shape, solid mahogany back and sides with cherry stain finish, solid Sitka spruce top with cherry sunburst finish, multiple bound top and back edges, decorative soundhole rosette, large thick red plastic pickguard with six fastening screws and hummingbird with decorative floral pattern, rosewood bridge with rosewood saddle and six white plastic bridge pins, set mahogany neck with cherry red stain finish, bound rosewood fingerboard with split parallelogram inlays starting at the first fret, bone nut, enlarged Gibson open book peghead shape, black peghead face with Gibson pearl logo and decorative crown inlay, multi-ply black and white plastic bell shaped truss rod cover, three per side double line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with green keystone buttons, two metal strap buttons and black hard shell case.

This 1967 Gibson Hummingbird is in very good vintage cosmetic condition showing moderate lacquer checking, play wear and a few dings throughout (see photos). There are three professionally repaired back cracks and two professionally repaired top cracks that are very solid. The neck profile is that of a typical late 60s Gibson carve with a very round C shape that tapers and gets chunkier the closer to the 12th fret you get and a 1 9/16 inch nut width. It’s very comfortable in the hand. The fingerboard has been professionally refretted with slightly larger than vintage fret wire and there is no play wear on the new frets. This Hummingbird plays spectacular up and down the fingerboard with low, smooth action. The bridge is original but has been set up with a non adjustable saddle (the original saddle is included). The neck angle is great on this guitar and the truss rod is fully functional. The finish on this Hummingbird is very vibrant throughout and looks fantastic. A strap button has been added to the center of the neck heel and the guitar has an oversized endpin from a previous Sunrise pickup. All of the work done to this guitar was performed by world class luthier Andy Jellison in Nashville, Tennessee. This guitar needs nothing and is ready to play right out of the case. This Gibson is housed in an unoriginal black tolex covered hardshell case.

This Hummingbird sounds like a record. If you are looking for the classic 1960s Gibson tone for recording, this guitar will deliver in a strong way. We also find this guitar to be a great instrument for writing as it is very comfortable to play. With the fantastic tone and great playability, this is a difficult guitar to put down. We have played many examples of this model and find this one near the top of our list when it comes to an all around exceptional example of the model. A gem of a guitar shipped out safely and promptly from our little shop here in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
