Used 2005 Gibson J-160E Historic Collection serial number 0275012.

This guitar is in very good condition. Neck angle and frets are fine, cosmetically very nice.

Previous owner snapped the truss rod at the nut end. Rather than remove the fretboard and install a new truss rod he simply and effectively rethreaded the end of the rod. Done. It looks different under the truss rod cover but works just the same. There is a crack to the top bass side of the neck that is structurally sound. It looks like it goes through but an original brace on the inside prevented it from becoming a structural issue.

“First released in 1954, the Gibson J-160E Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar was made famous by artists such as The Beatles. The J-160E guitar's brassy, high-output acoustic-electric sound combined with punchy, warm acoustic tone accurately re-creates the sound that led a musical revolution in the '60s.”

The Gibson J-160E Historic Collection was a limited run of 24 (according to Gruhn). Introduced in mid-2004, is equipped with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, trapezoid fingerboard inlays, standard P100 pickup at the neck, and controls for volume and tone.

John Lennon and George Harrison frequently used J-160E guitars with The Beatles, both on-stage and in the studio.

“J. Winston” (aka Dr. Winston O’Boogie), John Lennon’s “code name” signature on truss rod cover.

Cool guitar, plays and sounds great!

Hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
