DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1959 Gibson J-200 in a natural finish. First introduced in 1937 and original name the Super Jumbo 200, Gibson launched this jumbo as a their top-of-the-line flat top that would replaced their Advanced Jumbo model. In 1947 they changed the back and sides to maple and in 1955 they changed the name to J-200. Today the J-200 is best known for Goliath stage presence! Every one from John Lennon to Elvis Presley to Bob Dylan (just to name a few) can be seen on stage playing this big body flat tops. Theres just something so cool and comforting about an artist playing these jumbo guitars front and center, showing of that big mustache bridge and large pick guard!

Specs! This guitar is in good condition. The top cracks have been glued and cleated, there are two underneath the fretboard extension and one below the bridge. There was an output jack on the lower left bout that was filled. Some one installed a large bolt as a strap button on the neck. The bridge was cracked but has been glued and repaired. It has a newer set of bone bridge pins. Original Gold (worn) Grover paten pending rotomatics. Stinger on the back of the head stock. Nut width measure 1-11/16″. Two piece maple neck with a depth of .88″ at the first fret and 1.05″ at the twelfth fret. Bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Action measures 6/64″ on the bass side and 5/64″ on the treble side. The original 20 large frets are in good condition. Spruce top with figured maple back and sides. Original rosewood open mustache bridge. Double x-bracing. Comes with its original hard shell case. Weighs 5 pounds and 6 ounces.

At 60 years old this J-200 has seen somethings! This guitar has been well loved! It has that extremely comfortable played in feeling that you only get with decades of play. The neck reminds you of a close old friend. Lush full warm sound. Good bass response with clear crisp treble. Phenomenal rhythm guitar but still retains enough definition for more intricate playing like chord melodies or bass runs. One of those guitars you just don’t wanna put down once you’ve got it in your hands! Did I mention it has a stinger on the back of the headstock! If the killer vintage looks don’t sell you the tone and comfort will!
