1952 Gibson J-45 SN. Z2697 32 BEING SOLD FOR THE BENEFIT OF CAFFE LENA, SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY

This '52 Gibson J-45 is being sold by Kovacik Guitars for the benefit of Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs NY, the oldest continuously operated folk music venue in the U.S. 100% of the money from the sale of this guitar will go directly to the Caffe. This is a player grade instrument that is in good playing condition but has had some repairs and replaced parts. The neck angle is perfect, the neck is flat (truss rod working fine) and the action is low and comfortable, the guitar plays easily and there's plenty of saddle showing to allow for adjustability of action if desired. The frets are in good shape with just a little wear, nothing that requires immediate attention. The guitar has had its tuners replaced as well as the bridge, which is over sized. The top is flat under tension, and all of the interior bracing (which is original, including the bridge plate) is secure and intact. The top has had a couple of crack repairs at the pick guards, which are stable and flat. I believe that the guitar was likely refinished, possibly at Gibson given the quality and color of the top burst, very early in its life. It was likely that this was when the second pickguard was added to the top. I speculate that it was added at the time of the refinish because the additional guard is under the finish. The finish has lacquer crazing throughout and plenty of little nicks and dings. The guitar sounds like a J-45 should, in spite of the over sized bridge. Rich, thumpy bass, strong midrange and trebles, excellent volume/projection. It comes with a later (likely 60s) Gibson hard shell case (yellow lining). It isn't often you can find a 60 year old J-45 for an affordable price, and one that when you buy it raises money for such a good cause. More pics available on request. Come 'n get it! $2975
