This is a wonderful example from Gibson’s best period, its Tobacco Sunburst finished top has a nice faded patina enhancing its spruce top, its Walnut stained mahogany back & sides show a grainy appearance almost like some nice rosewood, its 1 piece full sized mahogany neck feels perfect, its unbound Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is what all players prefer, its small tortoise’gard is the last of its type as in 1955 it became far larger & less desirable, its original rosewood bridge is intact & unmodified, its original Kluson strip tuners hold tune well, its body date code starts w/an “X” meaning she was made in 1954, other than 1 small repaired back crack & some play wear, she is very solid & all original, these post-war J-45’s are one of the best flat tops from the early 50’s, she’s excellent overall & comes w/a period hard case.
