1965 Vintage Gibson J-45 Adj
This is truly a fun and well preserved Gibson Dreadnaught. We were excited to find her. The J-45 hits that sweet spot of midsize and full sound. The beautiful and rare cherryburst finish on this one is amazingly scratch and ding free. It glows in the sunlight. The cherry on the mahogany sides and back is intoxicating. She has been very carefully cared for during her 50+ years. She's got a clean and shiny finish with just the right amount of crazing, letting folks know that this is more than your average J-45. There was a small shallow and non- structural crack on the heel of the neck we have had professionally inspected, filled and finished. The aged spruce top accompanied by the mahogany sides and back, bring a brilliant spectrum of sound--nice lows, very bright highs, and probably the best midrange we have heard for a long time. We have had our luthier fully inspect and set this one up with a very comfortable height--plays smooth and easy all the way up and down the neck. Speaking of necks, there is plenty of fret life left from top to the bottom. And yes, it is straight as an arrow. This is the more rare and very desirable 1 11/16” at the nut wider neck--super comfortable. The original case for this guitar was a battered and cracked chipboard case. We thought she had earned a better ride than that, so we will ship her with a new, well-fitting hardshell case. Ready to pull right out and play. This one will bring a smile to your face every time you see it-- or play it!
