DESCRIPTION
For your consideration a 1954 Gibson J160E in a Sunburst finish. The J160E was Gibsons second attempt at an Acoustic Electric guitar and needless to say they hit it out of the park! George Harrison said his J160E was played on every single Beatles album from Pleas Please Me to Abby Road! This is the first year they produced this model and is the only year the features a solid spruce top!

Specs! This guitar is in good condition. Heavy player wear on top and back. Top crack was repaired and has a single cleat. Superficial cracks on the sides and back. Loose bracing was reglued. It has been refretted with 19 medium frets. Original Single line Kluson tuners. Nut width measures 1-11/16″. Mahogany neck with a depth of .89″ at the first fret and 1.00″ at the twelfth fret (Round profile). It has a 24.75″ scale length. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides finished with a sunburst top. Original P-90 pick up in the neck with original Gibson wiring and gray tiger cap. Original adjustable rosewood bridge has been reglued. Patch on bridge plate. Comes with a newer hard shell case. Weighs 5 pounds and 3 ounces.

If its good enough for George Harrison its good enough for me! We’ve had a few J160E’s come through and the Spruce top makes all the different for its acoustic tone. Big Gibson dreadnought sound. Heavy on the bass, nice mid punch and plenty of shine on top! The neck has that great vintage worn in feel. Everyone who has owned this guitar has absolutely loved it, you can tell by heavy player wear which is the sign of a guitar that couldn’t be put down! Super cool first year example of one of the most iconic guitars out there!
