(vbg #1701) Gibson's Kalamazoo line was created to help the company weather the depression. The Kalamazoo flat tops lacked a truss rod, and were ladder braced, allowing for a less expensive guitar. The Gibson name was left off to avoid cheapening the Gibson brand. That said, the Kalamazoo line of guitars was produced with the same fine materials and craftsmanship as the regular Gibson line.
In the vintage guitar market, the KG is somewhat unique because of its truncated upper bout. With less air in the box, the KG11 produces a voice of its own and is popular with many players today for that reason.

Back and sides are mahogany, and the 3-piece top is spruce, set off with the typically beautiful Gibson sunburst. The neck is mahogany, with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The bridge is also Brazilian with the expected lacquer finish intact. The body measures an L-00-like 14 3/4" across the lower bout. Scale length is 25", and the fingerboard measures 1 3/4" across at the nut.

This 1935 (A FON) example is in overall excellent condition, and all components including tuners, nut and saddle, appear original. There is a bit of a finish break along the treble side top seam at each end, and the name 'Terry' was scratched in and touched up in the area of the upper treble bout. A neck reset was just completed. Frets and fingerboard are excellent, like new, and no wear on the back of the neck. There are a few nicks and scratches, but pretty crisp looking overall. Action is set at ~ 6/64" and the guitar plays easily with the classic KG11 tone, woody but round and full. ..perfect for bluesy finger picking.
Comes with its likely original soft case.
