As the guitarist with The Roots, the beloved house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, “Captain” Kirk Douglas has developed a well-deserved reputation as a stellar and versatile player. One of his coolest guitars is his three-pickup Gibson SG Custom, and Gibson commemorated the instrument with a Kirk Douglas SG reissue not long ago. Now, Replay Guitar Exchange has secured a 2013 pre-owned version for your consideration. Score this guitar and you too might find yourself on late night television before long! Though we can’t guarantee that level of success, we are certain you will love the versatility of this three-pickup SG Custom. Through some inventive Gibson switch trickery, the trio of ’57 Classic humbuckers gives you legendary PAF tones as well as single-coil sounds via its push-pull tone pots, and you can dial in the middle pickup wherever desired thanks to the stealth blender ring disguised within its TogPot selector switch. Now that is unique! The neck’s Grade-A rosewood fingerboard carries stunning acrylic pearloid block markers, and is topped with a large Custom headstock with multi-ply binding and split-diamond inlay. The mahogany neck’s thin dimensions and beveled edges provide playing comfort and super-fast speed. The gold hardware includes high-quality Grover keystone tuners, Tune-o-matic bridge, and a vibrola for added versatility, with a stunning “Lyre” cover etched with Kirk’s nickname “Captain” and dual roses. This guitar has some very minor scratches and the frets show only about 10% wear, so there is a good deal of life left on the neck, and we are classifying this instrument as Very Good Plus. The original hardshell Gibson case is included. Contact Replay Guitar via chat, email or phone for more details.
