FON 203C-90. Not every vintage Gibson we offer for sale is in immaculate condition - but we're very committed to making sure every guitar that makes it to our website and our showroom plays great and is in need of no further repairs. We're equally committed to finding guitars that have what it takes when it comes to tone.

Case in point is this 1937 Gibson L-00, which ranks among the some of the best sounding 14 fret L-00's we have ever offered for sale. Its original finish is over-brushed with lacquer in places (mostly very thin, but thicker on parts of the back, sides, and neck heel) - but that's not stopping it from being an exceptional guitar.

A largely original guitar but for newer accurate bridge plate, bone saddle and pins. It has nearly crack-free top and sides (there are a couple of very short top cracks on the lower bass edge), full-height original bridge, and no repairs of any real significance. There are a few reglued braces, and two small repaired back cracks. The neck angle is excellent, frets are in good shape with the first 5 nicely replaced, action is set to our standard 5-6 64ths, and there is plenty of saddle available for future adjustments.

A well played guitar, there is plenty of wear on the finish, and dings, dents and scratches strewn evenly; the most notable of which is at the waist on the top's treble edge.

Red spruce top with straight braces; sunburst finish with white binding. Bound mahogany back and sides; V-shaped mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard; 1-3/4" width at the nut, and 24.75" scale. Original nickel plated tuning machines, ebony nut, and silkscreened logo.

A very fine sounding L-00, with more bass response and open mid-range than most. Very alive and resonant: strong trebles, excellent balance.
