This is a fantastically clean arch top. And that superlative isn't an over statement. She came with one of our 1930's beauties. We were glad to get her. Virtually no major crazing, no cracks or blemishes. Another one that plays like butter. The Spruce top pairs so well with the mahogany sides and the maple back. She has single binding with a classic sunburst finish. Still shines like new-no refinishing needed-or desired. This girl is like new. The sound projection is solid and the tone is mellow. Nice, nice tone. This is a great piece for either jazz work or just sitting around picking. There was no complete serial number on this one, but we worked with Gibson USA and they were comfortable, that she is a 1947 (can provide Gibson email if desired). There is a faint 981 in the treble f-hole but the rest of the number is indistinguishable. The headstock decal helped us closely date her. She comes with a new solid fitting plush case as the original case was lost somewhere along the way. Though not as ornate or deep as the fancier archtops, this is a great player's choice to be in the league with some of the more expensive Series L Gibsons. Make her yours!

We make every effort to provide you honest information about the instrument you purchase. However, every flaw, scratch or ding may not be photographed or noticed on every instrument. By the nature of what we are collecting and selling, virtually all vintage instruments will have dings, scratches, and various other imperfections that come with age and use. We call it character. That's why we love them. Please carefully look at photographs and contact us if you require additional information. Please note that every instrument has been inspected and set up by our luthier for playability and appearance. But, your instrument may still require additional set up by you to make it exactly what is most comfortable and acceptable to you. In the unlikely event that your instrument arrives in a condition with damage or other issues not previously anticipated, please contact us immediately and we will assist. Should a return be required due to damage incurred in route, we must be notified within 48 hours. Please note that all other returns are at the recipients expense. Contact us to authorize and assist you in either case so that we can minimize cost and ensure the safe return of the instrument.
