Offered for sale;

Used c1961 Gibson L-48 Archtop acoustic guitar serial number 6942 14.

This guitar is in good condition and has had a professional refret. Cosmetically showing nicks and marks about the body as well as a bit of belt rash through the finish. There are remnants of three rectangular marks on the upper bass bout (possibly a removed sticker with the owner’s initials). The original pickguard is missing, non-original Klusons, tailpiece and bridge. There are screw holes in the top from a pick guard and someone added, then removed, a pickup. The output jack is still in place.

Hard to tell the exact year. With decades in the biz we haven’t see this serial number scheme with 4 digits, space and 2 digits stamped on the inside. The mahogany top & sides with maple top started in ’57.
If feels like late ‘50s rather than early ‘60s. But if the serial number is 6942 with a production code of “14” it could mean 1961. If the serial number is 694214 (space not withstanding) it could be a 1964.

The Gibson L-48 was introduced after World War II as a simple archtop acoustic. There was some variation as to the wood used on the body through the '40s. Other changes to the wood composition occurred in 1952 and 1957.

Interesting vintage Gibson with patina exuding! Archtop desires?

Hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every
mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be
important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
