1947 Gibson L-5 Sunburst

Here's a 1947 Gibson L-5 in Sunburst finish. This stunning example comes to us from the family of the original owner. It has been perfectly stored for decades now. You be hard pressed to find another in this condition! With the exception of the G tuner, everything else on the guitar is original, including the other five gold-plated Kluson Sealfast tuners. At one point the guitar had a different set of tuners on that left small extra holes. Those holes have been professionally filled in-house by our luthier, and the original tuners (except the G) are back on. And the changed tuner is the proper style, so it's easy to miss! No breaks, cracks, repairs beyond that! The guitar features a 17" body, carved spruce top, gorgeous carved figure maple back and sides, figured maple neck, ebony fretboard, L-5 tailpiece, and still features the old 1930's script "Gibson" logo!! Playability is exceptional! The neck is straight, action is low, and the truss rod functions properly. There's still plenty of room in the bridge for future adjustments. The original frets are just about perfect!! And tonally....it's got the sound that only these guitars can produce. It's full, balanced, with crystal clear note separation, and a whole lotta projection. Just amazing. The guitar includes its original brown Lifton hardshell case, which also is in great shape!
