The Gibson L-5 has been the top of the heap for full body archtop guitars since its introduction in 1924, and through regularl updates to reflect player's needs, it has remained the standard.

Wes Montgomery was one of the most influential American jazz guitarists. The Gibson L-5 Wes Montgomery Custom Shop model has been built since 1993. It features a full 17 inch wide body, with carved spruce top, carved flame maple back, maple sides, maple neck with bound around the head and ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl block position markers and flowerpot headstock inlay, and gold hardware. One humbucking pickup is installed in the neck position and there's a single volume and tone control.

This example of the GIbson L-5 Wes Montgomery model was built during 2013 at the Gibson Nashville Custom Shop. It's in very good condition, with just minor wear marks and natural sinking of the cherry red nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It plays well at a normal action height, and is presently strung with flatwounds. The original hardshell case is included.
