Description

Summary: This long-running Gibson archtop went through several design changes in the '30s and '40s including changes in hardware and body dimensions. Like other Gibsons, there was also some inconsistencies in production during World War II. From 1949 onward, the model stayed large the same. This particular guitar is from 1950 & it has a beautiful vintage look & feel. The tuning keys have been replaced with Kluson Deluxe vintage style tuners but otherwise this baby is in great shape.

Body: Archtop acoustic with a fully bound spruce top, fully bound maple back & sides – this vintage Gibson is 16” wide at the lower bout.

Neck: Fully bound mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & bridge – this guitar has a scale length of 25” and a nut width of 1 11/16”. This beauty has wonderful pearloid block inlays and 19 frets. The frets are worn but they still have some life left in them.

Pickups/Hardware: Chrome Schaller replacement tuning keys, trapeze tailpiece, no electronics.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape & it sounds and plays wonderfully. There are some nice scratches and dings on the top – a few of the scratches are pretty heavy & do show down to the wood. The tuning keys were replaced with Kluson Deluxe tuning keys. This instrument shows lots of regular wear consistent with a well-loved Gibson from 1950 but no cracks or breaks.

Playability: This guitar plays great – we put new 12 gauge acoustic strings on this baby & the action is comfortable & low. This guitar plays pretty good up & down the fingerboard and we recently did a fret level to make it play even better.

Modifications: The original tuning keys were replaced with Kluson Deluxe tuning keys.

Weight: 5 lbs, 1 oz.

Case: No case but we will package it well & ship it fully insured
