Description

Summary: The Gibson L-6S Deluxe was made between 1974 and 1979 with less than 4000 made….This beauty is from 1979 & it has a super thin lightweight body with lots of vintage charm & really great tone & feel. This baby doesn’t come with the original hardshell case but we will pack it well & ship it fully insured.

Body: Solid body maple with a single cutaway with a bass bout beveled edge & some smooth bevels around the lower back as well. The body width is 13.5”. The body length is 16.5” and the body depth is 1.25” – this is a thin body & its very cool.

Neck: Maple set neck construction with a rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, dot inlays, Gibson 3 per side metal tuning keys, 1 9/16” nut width, 24.75” scale length. This instrument has a narrow headstock with the black overlay & Gibson screened logo. The frets do show some wear but they have plenty of life left in them.

Pickups/Hardware: Chrome or Nickle hardware (looks aged but in good shape), strings through the body design, Gibson tuning keys, black pickguard, 2 black covered humbucker pickups, 5-sided pickup covers, volume knob, tone knob, 3-way switch, oversized rectangular Tune-O-Matic bridge.

Cosmetics: This instrument was a factory SECOND - it says "SECOND" on the back of the headstock. This instrument shows normal wear associated with a Gibson from the late 1970’s – there are nicks & dings in the body, lots of scratches on the top on the pickguard & the body of the guitar itself, buckle rash on the back with lots of small scratches – the black paint is worn off on the back near where the strings go through the body. This guitar also shows wear at the neck joint with small chips & noticeable wear. The edges of the headstock are worn but nothing structural and all wear is consistent with a guitar that has been played but loved.

Playability: This rare awesome Gibson plays great up & down the fingerboard – we put a new set of 10’s on this baby & gave it a full setup – this Gibson is ready to be played and loved!
