Description

1939 Gibson L Century EG-5270 EXC – Here is a beauty! It’s got the large sunburst on the top typical of the later models. Pearl inlays in rosewood insets in the M.O.P. fingerboard. It has the rarer non-M.O.P. ebony veneered, pearl inlaid Gibson headstock and original tuning pegs. Top is Adirondack, with flame maple sides and back -all are crack free sans a pro-repaired B string crack right by the pickguard. Nice comfortable “soft Vee” neck profile hard shell case seems more like late 40’s or early 50’s to me but it’s sure a nice one and fits perfectly. This guitar is set up great and is really fun to play. Plus it’s about the best sounding one of these that I’ve run across.
This guitar is short scale and has the 1-3/4″ nut; the bridge spacing is 2-3/8″, and the height at the 12th is 4/32″ and treble is 3/32″. The top is spruce and the back and sides are maple rendering a crisp but warm sound with nice sustain. There are a few scratches and bumps on the guitar, see pictures, but only 1 repaired B string crack on the entire guitar which is pretty darn good for 83 years old. It does have an adjustable truss rod. I love the look of of the light tea hued sunburst and the gorgeous flamed maple all over it… You don’t see many in this condition…Go to Allegheny Valley Guitars for more.. https://alleghenyvalleyguitars.com/product/lc-century-1939-gibson-7995-00/
