Description

We got ourselves a real looker here: a 1933 Gibson L-Century! In 1933 Gibson designed this guitar for the Century of Progress World’s Fair in Chicago. The theme of the fair was technological innovation which is why Gibson decide to inlay the fingerboard with pearloid and cover the rest of the guitar with as many celluloid parts as possible (i.e headstock, tuner buttons, pick guard etc.).

This guitar is in very good condition for its age. It has a newer bone saddle and nut. It’s a great looking guitar, worn in all the right ways. There is a bit of bubbling on the top left bout were it seems someone may have used something wrong to clean it.

Made with figured maple back sides and a spruce top this guitar sounds amazing. It sounds like a classic blues recording. Very well balanced with strong treble and bass side is round and pronounced. Not only a stunning sounding and looking guitar, this piece plays very well and has some cool history to boot! First year of a really unique Gibson!
