Summary

Finish: The guitar has been fully oversprayed.

Body Material: Maple

Top Material: Spruce

Body Details: Carved maple back and sides with X-braced, carved spruce top. The back appears to have been removed and reglued to facilitate repairs, and the body has been oversprayed. A strap button was added near the bass side of the neck heel, and there is an open screw hole on the bass waist of the body from a previously installed pickguard.

Neck Material: Mahogany

Neck Profile: "C" profile

Neck Thickness (IN): .88" (1st fret), 1.02" (10th fret)

Fingerboard Radius: 10.00"

Nut Width: 1-5/8"

Scale Length: 25 1/2"

Neck Details: Mahogany neck with unbound Brazilian rosewood fretboard, "picture in frame" fretboard inlays, and headstock truss rod adjustment. The neck has been refretted, and the non-original nut has a small shim underneath. The neck has a Kent Armstrong mini humbucker mounted to the sides of the tongue, and there is a filled hole on the bass side of the tongue from a previously installed pickguard. The tuners have been replaced, and the neck has been oversprayed. The original finish over the impressed serial number on the back of the headstock appears to have been lightly sanded away before overspraying.

Electronics: The guitar has been fitted with a Kent Armstrong mini humbucker, with volume control and output jack mounted to the pickguard. A ground wire has been run from the tailpiece to the wiring harness.

Pickup Measurements: 7.1k

Hardware: The pickguard, tailpiece, tuners, and nut have all been replaced.

Weight: 6 lbs 2 oz

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Gibson L-7 shows very nice aging and authentic wear, with attractive checking and various light scratches and dings on the glossy finish. There are signs of repair around the back edges of the guitar, likely from when the back was removed and reglued, as well as a slight gap between the neck heel and the back. These are cosmetic only and the body is structurally sound. The back of the body shows some heavier scratches, and the back of the neck is comfortably worn.

Modifications/Repairs: -Oversprayed body and neck -The neck has been refretted -Replaced and shimmed nut -Replaced pickguard -Replaced tuners and tailpiece -Added strap button -The back was removed and reglued, likely to repair the top braces -A pickup was added, with electronics mounted to the pickguard

Serial Number: EA5607

Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief, and the truss rod is adjustable. The frets are tall with minimal play wear. The serial number, visible on the interior label and on the back of the headstock, along with the bracing pattern date the guitar to 1939.

Case Details: Hardshell Case
