Gibson 1955 (late 55/56) Les Paul Gold Top One Owner Near Mint!! Ladies and Gentlemen, Asbury Park Vintage Guitars is extremely proud to present to you this incredible, world's finest example of a late '55 ('56 Spec) Les Paul Gold Top. Please read on because this is not your everyday normal experience in touching, looking at, holding and feeling a fine vintage instrument. As soon as you open the original Lifton case you are taken aback by the condition and color of the gold top. Holding the guitar up in the light at different angles allows you to see only a very small amount of checking and defects in the otherwise near-mint condition of the finish and lacquer. The gold finish in the 50's and 60's Les Pauls often suffer from discoloration, fading and "greening" of the paint. This example is free of all of that. The back of the guitar and the neck show an equally pristine finish which is largely check and ding free except for a tiny bit of checking and tiny marks behind the first few frets (see pics). The rosewood fingerboard and frets are original, stunning and equally as impressive as the front and back of the guitar. The pick guard, knobs, poker chip are unbelievably retained in their original bright unfaded condition, as are the nickel parts. This guitar comes in its original 4-latch Lifton case with original strap. Now as far as playability and sound goes, well, all we can say is prepare to have a life changing experience holding this guitar, plugging it in and wrapping your fingers around it. This is not a normal Gold Top and "extraordinary" doesn't even come close to describing the feeling you will have feasting on this guitar. The pots are 4 correct Centralab 500K. Kluson Single line tuners. Weight = 8.77 Pounds. Neck = Medium C. Hardware = Nickel.
