1958 Gibson Les Paul. An early, PAF-equipped Goldtop Les Paul formerly owned by Paul Reed Smith! This guitar was one of the best PRS had heard and was purchased to use as a reference guitar for building his instruments. It was also loaned to Eric Johnson for touring while in Paul’s ownership! This guitar has an incredible look and sound and is a fantastic player. Shows a fair amount of finish wear, but is in overall solid condition with no breaks or repairs. Original with the exception of a ’70s tone pot, replaced jack plate, replaced bridge saddles and non-original, era-correct tuners (original tuners included). There is some minor enlarging of the tuner holes and evidence of re-soldering in the control cavity. An excellent player with a great feel and comfortable chunky ’50s-profile neck. The original PAF humbuckers are some of the best out there with a strong punchy sound, unmatched clarity and a rich, singing top end. An incredibly rare instrument with a very special history! Includes original hardshell case.
