1961 Gibson Les Paul Cherry with Original Hard Case

Summary: The 1961 Gibson Les Paul was a complete replacement for the Les Paul with a daring new design that was thought to be a more modern solid-body guitar, with sleek beveled edges and two sharp cutaways. Legend says that Les Paul wasn’t real happy with the design & it was dropped by late 1963. This particular Gibson is in fabulous shape and it comes with the original & rare black alligator tolex covered case.

Body: Beveled mahogany double cut-away S.G. style.

Neck: Fully bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard on mahogany neck with slim tapered, 60’s “C” shape profile, block pearloid inlays, original tuning keys. This neck is very straight and comfortable to play. Frets have almost no wear, are in fantastic shape, and ready for many more years of playing. The scale length is 24.5” and the nut width is 1 11/16”.

Pickups/Hardware: All Original Patent Applied For pickups. Replacement Kluson Deluxe tuning machines are in fantastic shape. Has fully functioning Maestro Vibrola side pull vibrato unit.

Cosmetics: This 1961 Gibson Les Paul is in fantastic shape. Very little corrosion on the hardware if any at all. Finish only has a few dings and dents. This vintage Gibson has no cracks or repairs. It shows only the most minor wear from a used but is an exceptionally cared for vintage instrument.

Playability: This instrument has been fully set up with a new set of 10’s by our in-house luthier & it plays and sounds great. The action is low & the guitar feels wonderful up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: Replacement Kluson Deluxe dual line tuning keys.
