1968 Gibson Les Paul Refin (Previously owned by Walter Becker)

We sold this guitar to Walter Becker in the summer of 2015. Walter was one of our favorite customers and he would hang out in the shop until midnight every night while Steely Dan played the Midwest circuit and made Chicago their home base. Walter had an amazing sense of humor. He was highly intelligent and a an incredibly intuitive musician. Walter picked this guitar up, plugged it in and said out loud "god has come down from the heavens".  We were fortunate to get the guitar back via the Julien's Auction of Walter's estate.
 The guitar is a 68' small headstock long neck tenon Les Paul Goldtop. It retains some evidence of the original finish in the pickup cavities. It has a wonderful medium large neck profile as one would expect from this second coming of the Les Paul. This LP is very resonant and the pickups sound incredible. It has wonderful overtones and sustain. Walter made it sing in the store. 
 The finish is a wonderful two tone sunburst with a very 70's vibe. Tuners and pots were changed long ago likely when it was refinished. Pickguard is long gone. Comes with a 90's brown Gibson Combo lock case.
