Introduced in mid-1952, the Gibson Les Paul Model has remained the worlds' most iconic electric guitar to this day. The stop tailpiece and Tuneomatic bridge were introduced in 1955, the gold barrel knobs were standard through 1960, and PAF humbucking pickups graced the model beginning in mid-1957. The following year, Gibson introduced the sunburst finish and figured maple top on the Les Paul Standard, and this handsome guitar combines all those classic features.
Designed by Gibson R&D chief J.T. Riboloff, the Les Paul Classic was introduced in 1990 as a meticulous reissue of the original 1960 version of this iconic model. The 'Premium Plus' version was the top of the Classsic line, crafted with an intensely figured deep-dished bookmatched tiger flame maple top, Heritage Cherry sunburst finish, aged pearloid inlays, small headstock with inked serial number, and all-nickel hardware, to complete the faithful vintage appearance.
Built with the elegant, slimmer depth neck profile of the 1960 originals, the guitar is also fitted with two exposed black bobbin Gibson 496R/500T 'hot ceramic' pickups, some of the most powerful humbuckers ever made, voiced aggressively for maximum gain. Action is smooth and low action over a fresh high-precision setup. Finish and hardware are 100% original, and all-original finish shows some normal playwear, with a few random nicks and a bit of scattered buckle worming on the back.
Unchambered for maximum sustain, the guitar weighs in at 8lb 15oz, and is evenly balanced on the lap or the strap. The original brown Gibson logo hardshell case includes the silk coverlet, all original tags and paperwork, the unmounted cream 1960 logo pickguard, and it's original Gibson leather strap as well. A rare combination of classic features, in one gleaming instrument. One only: call now.
