Description

Summary: This is a beautiful 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom that has lots of changes but still sounds great & plays like a dream. This instrument has the original finish and it has a ton of character.

Body: 2 piece slab mahogany body with a maple cap. This Gibson has a fully bound top & back and a wonderful original Sunburst finish.

Neck: 3 piece mahogany neck with a volute, ebony fingerboard, block inlays, 22 frets, 1 11/16” nut width, 24.75” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 replacement DiMarzio humbucker pickups, 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs, replacement USA Sperzel locking tuning keys, replacement strap buttons, replacement adjustable bridge, 3-way switch.

Cosmetics: This 1974 Gibson shows lots of normal vintage wear – there are pick scratches, lots of dings in the top, one crack on the top that goes between the two pickups, dings & buckle scratch on the back, the neck pickup ring is cracked, the back of the neck has been shaved down. This instrument has lots of wear on the treble side binding after the 15th fret. Overall you can tell this baby was played a lot & used for years but structurally it is very sound and ready for 50 more years!

Playability: This beauty has recently been set up with a set of 10’s and the truss rod is fully functional. The action is low & the guitar plays great up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: This baby has lots of changes – the tuning keys are non-original USA Sperzel locking tuning keys, the back of the neck has been shaved so it feels like a satin finish, the 2 original pickups have been replaced with DiMarzio’s, the bridge has also been replaced. This instrument has also had a full fret replacement at some time in the past.

Weight: 9 lbs, 8 oz.

Case: This guitar ships with an aftermarket TKL Tweed Les Paul case
