This 9 lb 6 oz war horse has seen it all with stories to tell.

Let's start with the main reason it's not over $3000.00. A couple of decades ago, while fending off a Viking raid, it took a shot to the head. It was put back together, no problemo and has been no problemo ever since.

In doing the refin on the back of the headstock the original decal with 8 digit serial number and "Made In USA" was most likely damaged and removed to be replace with a stamped 6 digit serial number (most likely the last 6 digits of the original 8). The outline of the original decal is still visible.

The other stories have to do with normal changes one would expect to be done to a work horse like this.

  1. The original diamond shaped tuning pegs were upgraded to Kluson style with keystone button.
  2. The tune-o-matic studs were replaced with Nashville style.
  3. A Bigsby was once added and long since been removed with screw holes filled and touched up.
  4. The volume and tone knobs were replaced with the Ibanez stylee with the rubber ring for better traction.
  5. The pickups were replaced with a Seymour Duncan '59 in the rhythm and and Seymour Duncan Invader in the lead position.

If you don't want this war horse to vanquish any more Vikings we can put the original Gibson humbuckers back in. You decide.

So there you have it. Made to be played and wants to be played more.

PS: remarkably the frets are in great shape.
